For most colleges the way meals work is you have a meal plan. Some colleges make the freshman take the eat all the time plan.

     Each school is different for how they do meal plans. Some plans are eat as many meals as you want to 2 a day plans or 10 meals a week. One thing that is similar though is that the less meals the cheaper the plan.

 

Saving money while still getting fed

There are many ways to save money with having a meal plan. Say you have a 2 a day meal plan. Breakfast is the cheapest meal so skip that one by buying a mini fridge and you can have cereal. Also you could put yogurt and milk in there. Buy some Tupperware containers for your cereal.

 

Food Snatching

If you get hungry late at night and the cafeteria is closed have no fear. Earlier in the day take food back to your dorm room. Just don’t make is obvious. Some cafeterias are very strict against taking food out. One kid had to pay $20 for a full pie he was caught taking. Use common sense people the smaller the editable the easier to take. For me I take apples and bananas. Good filler when hungry and healthy too. Have a sweet tooth then take some cookies in your pocket,

 

Storage

If you’re going to take food you’ll need some storage. Tupperware is a nice option. Those sugar cookies will last longer and taste better not sitting out.

 

Myths

So before I started college I heard that college students gained a lot of weight. I don’t know about you, but this was scary, and MythBusters didn’t bust this myth.

If you’re like me and want to keep your body image take everything into moderation. If you have a huge lunch you should so some physical activity later. Just because a certain type of food is being served you don’t have to eat it. Try not to eat meat every meal. Salads are great until you put a ton of salad dressing, meant, and cheese on. When you do that you ruin the purpose of the salad. Ice cream is delicious, but it does carry a lot of fat. Add greens and veggies into each meal along with your wheat. Spice up a meal with a dish of fruit. All in all you can be that college student that puts on 10 pounds or one that stays the same size. The choice is yours.
